Prayer of the Trinity

May the love of the Father enfold us,
and the wisdom of the Son enlighten us,
the fire of the Spirit enflame us;
and may the blessing of triune God rest on us,
and abide with us,
now and evermore.

CAMPUS MINISTRY HIGHLIGHTS - 2009/2010

Peer Faith Facilitation took the form of confirmation retreats. Time to share faith and help our youth realize that life with God is so very good.  Spending the day with the students of St. Mary’s Hagersville was a pleasure.

Marion Day Celebration honoring Our Lady of Fatima—The Rosary Apostolate volunteers led 600 of our grade nine and ten students and staff in the praying of the rosary and  story of Our Lady of Fatima during the month of May.

Project Rachel – This is a Post Abortion healing ministry offered in our Diocese. The presentation to our grade 10 religion classes and our grade 12 Catholic leadership class was meaningful because the stories of suffering and healing were real. Students had the opportunity to ask questions. Once again Peter Buckley’s presentation to our students was powerful.

Marilyn Prine continues to visit our grade nine and ten classes. She shares her personal experience as a mother and practicing Catholic whose son died of Aids.  She offers much needed education and stresses the importance of faith and making the right decisions.

Multicultural Club hosted an awesome dinner.  We at Trinity had the opportunity to celebrate our diverse cultures and have fun.  God created us different so we would understand our need for one another.

Beverly Hadland a prolife and chastity speaker made quite an impression on our grade nine and ten students. She shared her personal experience in an entertaining manner and kept the interest of students and staff.  Holy Trinity wishes to thank the Simcoe and District Pro Life office for hosting this event in our school.

Net Ministries offered the grade nine religion classes a one day retreat at St. Mary’s church in Simcoe.  130 students and an amazing Net team made the day’s theme, “How to be Real” work well.  Through prayer, stories, games, sharing and music all benefited from the day.

Mass, Liturgy and Morning Prayer
The closing school mass, Graduation Mass and Staff Mass were all beautiful, respectful celebrations of faith.  Each morning, prayer was lead by a committed group of approximately thirty students and staff. They are asked to choose a portion of the Daily Readings and offer a brief reflection.  This keeps our students and staff connected to our faith story revealed in the Scriptures. On Holy Thursday we prayerfully remembered Jesus’ last hours on earth, the last supper and his journey to Calvary.  Over 100 students participated in this Liturgy of the Word and it truly was an inspiring way to begin the Easter Triduum as a school community.

March For Life
In May, a group of 13; 11 students and two staff joined with a group from London and Woodstock to travel to Ottawa for the March for Life.  We were standing with 10 to 12 thousand on Parliament Hill saying life is precious and must be protected from womb to tomb.

In Memory of Chuck Hellewell
On June 22, staff, family and friends gathered in the chapel for a memorial service to honor Chuck’s life and to bid him farewell.  Chuck had been a caretaker at Holy Trinity since it opened in 2001.  The Holy Trinity Caretakers, planted a beautiful weeping red maple in the Peace Garden in memory of Chuck.

Haiti Aid
John Stam approached our school and asked for donations of used athletic equipment and textbooks which we were more than happy to donate.  We also sent a generous amount of school supplies with the help of our Thankful Thursday donations.

Thankful Thursdays continued in semester two.  The emphasis is on being thankful to God and one another for the gifts received- and out of this sense of gratitude we are challenged to  remove the blinders that prevent us from reaching out to our neighbor in need.  The following is a report of student donations made through dress down days and Thankful Thursday collections.
