Hairstyling & Aesthetics (Cosmetology)

TPE3E1 HAIRSTYLING AND AESTHETICS
GRADE 11, WORKPLACE PREPARATION
Student hairstylist at workThis course provides students with opportunities to learn techniques in hairstyling and aesthetics that meet industry standards, using appropriate materials and equipment. Students will identify trends in the hairstyling and aesthetics industry; describe scientific and physical processes used in beauty services; learn to respect environmental, health, and safety laws; and explore career opportunities. The course may focus on either hairstyling or aesthetics, or may include a combination of both areas.
Prerequisite: NONE.

TPE4E1 HAIRSTYLING AND AESTHETICS
GRADE 12, WORKPLACE PREPARATION
This course builds on the Grade 11 course to provide a solid foundation for students wishing to pursue a career in cosmetology. Students will continue to develop practical skills and knowledge pertaining to the beauty industry. They will also gain an awareness of the entrepreneurial skills required to own and operate a salon. The course may focus on ether hairstyling or aesthetics, or may include a combination of both areas. Prerequisite: TPE3E1.

 

TPE4E2 HAIRSTYLING AND AESTHETICS
DOUBLE PERIOD COSMETOLOGY
This unique, double period Grade 12 course in cosmetology is designed to give the student an in depth study of cosmetology as an employable profession. At the Grade 12 level, students are required to track their areas of competency using the Hairstylist Apprenticeship Training Standard Competency Analysis Profile. Furthermore, this course outline will strictly follow the mandatory training units in the Hairstylist Apprentice Training Standards set by the Ontario Training Adjustment Board for those students wishing to pursue an apprenticeship. Independent studies and customer services will be emphasized throughout the course. Prerequisite: TPE3E1.
