Thursday, November 19, 2009 The Holy Trinity Titans junior volleyball team came from behind Tuesday night to earn a spot at the Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association triple-A tournament tomorrow. The Titans hosted Pauline Johnson Collegiate of Brantford in a play-in game Tuesday. Holy Trinity took the first set 25-20 before dropping the next two 25-23 and 25-22.
With their backs against the wall, the Titans rallied to dominated the fourth set 25-13 and win the tiebreaker fifth set 15-11. The victory means Holy Trinity -- the NSSAA runner-up -- will compete in the AAA event Friday at Paris District High School.
The senior Titans were not as successful. The seniors hosted Paris for their play-in game, and lost the first two sets 25-18 and 25-21. Holy Trinity bounced back to win the third set 25-22 but Paris would not be denied, winning the fourth and final set 25-18.
Both the senior and junior girls basketball teams from Holy Trinity lost their play-in games on Tuesday and are done for the season as well. |
