Fanshawe Simcoe/Norfolk Campus right here in Simcoe has been serving the post-secondary educational needs of Norfolk County and beyond for over 50 years. From our unique program in Eco-tourism offered only at the Simcoe/Norfolk campus to Welding Techniques, Early Childhood Education, Developmental Services Worker, Social Services Worker, Personal Support Worker, Office Administration and Agri-Business, our programs are created for ‘In Demand’ jobs. Many of our students have secured employment before they graduate. We offer alternative delivery methods for some programs to enable students to complete their credential over a shorter period of time, getting them out in the work force sooner.

Program Specific Summaries
Adventure Expeditions & Interpretive Leadership Program (Eco Tourism)
Our Adventure Expeditions & Interpretive Leadership Program is exclusive to the Simcoe/Norfolk Campus situated in the most biologically rich area in Canada- The Carolinian Region. There are three levels of learning from marketing and business strategies to ecological and science based courses, to adventure guiding, environmental interpretation and education and wilderness first aid, as well as our 3 exciting Expeditions. At the end of our program you’ll be prepared with a diploma and 16 Industry Certifications to share your love of nature and adventure with careers in a wide variety of the eco-tourism industry.
Agri-Business Management
In our Agri-Business Management Program you’ll be managing every step of the supply chain from farm to table and everything in between. While the class time provides you with theory, the field placement gives you valuable real world experience. From relationship management and selling, to marketing, finance, employee relations, food safety, learning to lead and manage and so much more, this program prepares you to enter the agricultural sector at a supervisory level to either manage an existing organization or as an entrepreneur.
The Office Administration Executive Program
In the Office Administration Executive Program you’ll gain real life work experience while getting paid in the two co-op work terms. When you’re learning to make your way in the fast paced Business World experience matters. This program consists of 4 levels of learning that builds on each level helping you master the skills to make an office run smoothly. You’ll learn how to oversee budgets, supervise and train others, organize meetings and travel arrangements, plan conferences, research and produce professional documents and reports.
Developmental Services Worker
DSW graduates are in high demand. The majority of grads find fulfilling employment within 6 months as direct support professionals, case managers/service coordinators or as educational assistants at a School Board. Your courses will focus on mental and physical health, interpersonal skills, teaching and positive behaviour supports. You'll learn how to collaborate and build relationships with family members, and to work with the diverse network of professionals who support people with developmental disabilities. You'll become a highly skilled practitioner supporting people of all ages to live as independently as possible. And with six field placements, you'll gain the first-hand real world experience and the confidence necessary for success.
Early Childhood Education
You’ll be shaping and nurturing the young minds of the future while enjoying a satisfying and in-demand career with Fanshawe’s Early Childhood Education program. A child’s education is only as effective as their educator and with the skills you’ll learn combined with our 6 field placements for real world experience you can make a lasting difference in the lives of young children. When you graduate you’ll have a diverse and dynamic set of skills for the evolving world of childhood education, You’ll be qualified to work in a variety of jobs including child care centres, early learning and family centres, Best Start programs, before and after school programs, and with school boards.
Personal Support Worker
A personal support worker has heart, compassion and dedication to helping those most in need. In addition to classroom instruction and lab practice, you’ll also complete placements in long-term care facilities as well as community placement for real world experience. When you graduate you’ll be ready to work with clients helping to make them comfortable and keep them safe. PSW’s are very much in-demand and you’ll be qualified to work in retirement homes, long-term care facilities, hospitals and in the home.
Social Service Worker
The Social Service Worker Program will give you the education and skills you need to make a true difference in the lives of people who need help. In this Program learning is focused on role-plays, counselling labs, case studies and presentations from professional social workers and clients. You will build a sound knowledge of human behaviour and psychology and you’ll learn proven techniques to prepare you for social service work in areas including anti-violence, corrections, addictions, education, crisis intervention and community development, social and community agencies, and social welfare programs.
Welding Techniques
The welder is respected on any jobs site or shop floor as a person who works with their hands and understands the theory needed to get the project finished. And Welders are in high demand right now!
With our 120 hour work placement you’ll stand out with real world experience. When you graduate you will be qualified to work as a welder, welder fitter trainee or as an apprentice in a wide range of trades including boilermaker, construction millwright, industrial mechanic/millwright, ironworker or pipe-fitter.
