Attention any students in grade 9 to 11 who are interested in writing the University of Waterloo math contest on February 23rd. You must sign up by Friday. See your current math teacher or Mr. Haak in room 260 to sign up. You must pay a $5 deposit which will be returned to you the day of the math contest.
Summer job opportunities are already coming into Guidance from local employers. Make sure to check the bulletin board in guidance if you are looking for a summer job.
Students will report to their homeroom from Quad 2 for announcements and to receive their Semester 2 schedules. After announcements, they will proceed to their scheduled class.
Attention grads, Edge Imaging will be at the school on Feb 7 and 8 for grad photos. If you have not had your photos taken, or need re-takes, please see Michele in guidance.

Norfolk County has a number of programs and opportunities for high school students in the coming months. These programs range from Leadership Training to the Babysitting course to Family Day and Earth Day activities. They are also offering some events to Boost Mental Health and Wellness. The first event is a virtual Bob Ross Art Class.

There will be a mandatory football meeting for all players Friday morning outside Mr. Martinow's room (243) at 9:10 to discuss jackets and rings. All players must attend.
Please return all overdue books to the library.

Students interested in sharing their story as part of our equity focus groups, are asked to see Mrs. Charnish-Currie. We are looking for students who identify as black, indigenous, people of colour, LGBTQ+ newcomers to Canada or have experiences of gender inequity.

Awesome serves were executed by our top servers Alexis Revai and Rachael Rogers. Awesome setting to set up team plays by Molly Bouw, excellent kills by Katie Earle, and super digs by our libero Chloe Bertrand were key to the win! Good luck to the girls in their away games against Cayuga tomorrow."
Our Junior Boys’ Basketball team continued their winning ways last night with a 59-42 win over the Delhi Raiders. The Titans were led to victory by Korey Shawana-Sherry, Landen Griffin, and Lennon Cook. The team now has a record of 4 wins and 0 losses in league play. The team is reminded of their practice after school today at 3:00 p.m.
The senior girls defeated Delhi 3-0 thanks in part to some big hits by Jessica Benz and a run of serving by Grace Giles. Great start to the season!
Anyone interested in playing sledge hockey on Dec.19th???
Neil Louden, who is part of the South Coast Special Needs Kids sledge hockey team is challenging the staff or students of HT to a friendly hockey game. He needs 4-6 players for his sledge team to play against. The game will be held Sunday, December 19th at 2:00 at Waterford Tricenturarena. Proof of vaccination, helmet and gloves are all that are required.
Please contact Mr. Backus, Mrs. Sullivan or Mrs. Washik if you would like to be part of the team. I hope HT staff and staff can rally together to give the South Coast Special Needs team a fun afternoon.

The Covid rapid antigen tests were distributed to students in class yesterday afternoon. Any students that did not receive one and would like to obtain a kit, should come to guidance during their lunch today.
Monday, December 13th, 2021
The Varsity Boys Hockey Team started their regular season in winning fashion this past Friday defeating Valley Heights 19-3 in their first game and then defeating Simcoe Composite 8-0 in their second game.
The boys had a balance attack offensively and defensively throughout both games with all players contributing to the score sheet.
Coaches VanParys, Martinow and Lichty would like to acknowledge the outstanding play the boys displayed and look forward to continue this success into the new year.
Congratulations fellas and you did HT proud.

The HT Junior Boys’ Basketball team won a hard-fought game over the Simcoe Composite Sabres last night. Final score was 54-43. Strong efforts from Andrew O’Neail, KJ Stronks, and Nick Weiler led the team to victory. The team is reminded of their optional shoot around after school today and our next practice – Monday at 4:30 p.m.
